Dianna L. Hurtado, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Knowing whom you are working with is important. I am a Licensed Clinical Social
Worker with eighteen years experience working with adults, children, and adolescents
in an office, home based and school environment. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked
in the fields of business/finance and education. I bring the life experience and wisdom of
working in these other professions to my therapeutic work with clients.
My strongest asset is my core integrity. If after consultation, my clients need a
different type of therapy or services, I am quick to refer through my extensive networking
system to other more appropriate professionals. I am consistently reading, attending
conferences and work shops and listening to my clients to insure that I provide the most up
to date recommendations based on research in the field of mental and physical health and
educational issues. My goal is for clients to accomplish success with the least amount of
time and money.
In my practice I use a variety of approaches to ensure success:
- Multi-systemic Approach – This incorporates visits to schools or day care centers as well as collaboration
with and referral to educators, psychiatrists and other physicians, neuro-psychologists, psychologists, nutritionists,
speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and professionals skilled in specialized therapies
(e.g., neuro-biofeedback, non-directive play therapy). This is used with complicated child/family issues when a more
traditional in office model has not been successful or at the request of the client.
- Individual Counseling – Provide one-on-one therapy focusing on individual issues. This is for
children (as young as three, determined by development up to age eighteen), adolescents and adults.
- Family Counseling – This includes couples as well as dyads, or triads or the entire family for
the purpose of identifying a family’s goals and developing a plan to achieve those goals.
- Children’s Social Skills Group – Provide a structure of interactive play between children grouped
together appropriately to achieve the goals of the child and parent. (For more information refer to the
Social Skills Group page). Groups are offered for children from ages four to seventeen.
